History of the
PSME Ladies Circle
The PSME Ladies Circle was conceived in October of 1978. Years before this date, ladies from PSME Cebu and Davao Chapters were the only ones participating in the PSME activities. During the 26th National Convention of PSME held in Cebu City, some ladies from Metro Manila participated and performed a special number in its "Cultural Night". Inspired by the success and good camaraderie experienced from the said participation, the group composed of Zeny Abarquez, Letty Abiera, Lita Baldonado, Gilda Baquiran, Linda Mencias, Chit Pascual and Aida Villanueva thought of forming a ladies auxiliary. This gem of an idea became a reality when Engr. Bonny F. Abiera, then incumbent National President, assisted in their guest. He was able to convince his fellow officers to acknowledge and recognize the newly formed group.
Soon after, a resolution was adopted by the PSME National Board of Directors, constituting a Ladies Auxiliary of PSME, now known as the PSME LADIES CIRCLE. This was later ratified during a National Board meeting, and in November 1978, a new association was born with an initial membership of only seven (7) ladies. It was under the late Zenaida Abarquez, the Charter President, that the objectives were fully identified.
Over the years, the idea of holding charity projects was envisioned to help not only their own members and their families in time of need, but most specially the indigents, the needy victims of calamities, the aged, and the orphans. These have become the very reason why they have continued to hold fund-raising activities now and then.
With their high hopes and enthusiasm, patience and hard work , they were able to survive and succeed, bringing them to what the PSME LADIES CIRCLE is today.
